Lama Island

• Lama Island is one of the other islands in Hong Kong. It's quite small and is known for it's fishing village, beaches, and hippies. There are no cars allowed on the island and the whole island operates on a generator.
• Great hiking - although not in between typhoons... we got stuck mid-trail a few times.

Unique HK Bars

• Makumba brings Africa to Hong Kong... I loved the live music.

• Senses 99 - No sign, you have to get buzzed in, and then go up 2 flights of stairs to get to this hip hide-away.... but once you find it Senses is a chill bar, with eclectic live music upstairs. It's kinda grungy... but has a quaint, homey appeal. You feel "in the know" by just finding the place.

4th of July in Hong Kong

• Chris and I spent our American holiday going to a film festival about Hong Kong
• "I Shot Hong Kong" is a collection of short films all "shot" in Hong Kong... Some were about love, some about death, some about shopping... bamboo construction and even one about zombies.
• FYI: Movie theaters here are AMAZING... the seats are exactly like 1st class, you can choose which exact seat you sit in when you purchase your tickets (no showing up early to reserve the good ones) and you get the most delicious caramel popcorn in the world!

Happy Handover Day

• Today was the 12th anniversary of the UK to China Hong Kong Handover - So no work on a Wednesday :)
• The day started out with a strange surprise... apparently the Handover Day Parade began in the intersection outside my window. My room is on the first floor on the corner of Pennington St and Jardine's Bazaar... it was a beautiful surprise, but a loud alarm clock
• After watching the parade from bed, Chris and I headed to Stanley Beach & Market (just a short Metro and Bus ride away)... Lovely weather, beautiful place... not a bad way to break up a work week.

The Future of Wine Tasting

• A group of us decided to go after work Tuesday (since Wednesday was going to be a holiday)
• We went to this unique wine bar called Tastings...
• How it works is you get this "credit card" when you walk in. Then you go up to the wall of wine, put your card in and decide to have a taste, 1/2 a glass, or a full glass (prices are accordingly figured - so in theory you could keep testing different wines until you find exactly the one you want...
• Pretty interesting place. A bit pricy... but that's why you go with colleagues who "feel bad" for the interns on a budget ;)
• After wine we went to the dance club Play where copywriter Andrew had the hook up... It was a long night... but a really good night.
